Herban Feast Forecasts DIY and Full-Service to Top 2010 Event Trends
Catering and Events Planning Company Anticipates Key Themes for Events in New Year
SEATTLE, WA, January 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Economic conditions are expected to continue to influence how individuals and businesses celebrate and host events, and according to one of Seattle's premier catering companies, Herban Feast (www.herbanfeast.com), this is translating into an increase in 'do it yourself' (DIY) style events, as well as an emphasis on selecting a "one-stop shop" provider that can manage every aspect of the event's logistics.
According to Herban Feast founder BJ Duft, "for all types of events, we've seen a renewed interest in personalization. We expect this trend to bring a new level of individual style to an occasion and result in do-it-yourself activities." Such DIY initiatives include creating living center pieces with potted plants, greens or foraged finds; making personal gifts for wedding party members, such as handpicked, homemade huckleberry jam; brewing beer for serving during the event; creating web sites for invites; and designing and printing programs and other printed materials. "We've also seen an increase in brides designing and sewing their own dresses to save money and present something totally different," continued Duft.
For those who seek to jump on this trend, Herban Feast shared further ideas for personalizing events including baking your own desserts; being your own DJ with playlists and an iPod; using recipes from your own ethnic heritage; choosing friends and family for elements like photography or floral arrangement; and providing mix and match table settings borrowed or bought secondhand. Duft concludes with advice for those who wish to save money by having events at home: "We've worked with a number of individuals who hosted a wedding or event at their house to save money, but ultimately find themselves spending twice as much as expected with the extra costs of adding bathrooms, tenting, and decor."
In addition to more creatively sourced events, Herban Feast expects a continued rise in individuals and businesses seeking full-service event options, or at a minimum, reducing the number of vendors they need to source and manage. The company also suggests that clients will seek expanded guidance and support from existing vendors to recommend additional resources needed for creating their desired event. "People are trying to do more with less," adds Duft. "We've been most successful when our clients let us partner with them and guide them through the process of making their event come to life. This includes free site visits to locations where we are going to cater, helping them diagram floor plans, providing other vendor references, and at times, acting as the day-of coordinator."
Herban Feast offers full-service catering at locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and its own distinct Sodo Park event venue. Last spring, the company was named 'Best Caterer,' 'Best New Wedding Vendor,' and 'Best New Reception Site' by Seattle Bride. Herban Feast is recognized for delivering delicious, market fresh dishes that use locally-sourced ingredients. A steward of its community, Herban Feast donates annually to support area organizations, works with local producers to create its menus, and adheres to strict sustainable practices around use and reuse of products.
